Force Instruments based on
(BS EN 12453:2017)
Force testing is a legal requirement for all domestic,
commercial, and industrial power operated doors. Your force instrument should
be calibrated at least once a year to ensure accuracy of at least 5%.
BS EN 12453:2017 Regulations
The European Standards BS EN 12453:2017 Industrial,
Commercial and Garage Doors and Gates – Safety in the use of power-operated
doors are the most significant standards with regard to force testing for
automatic gates and doors.
The requirements and test methods in this standard are
divided into two separate categories. In the event that maintenance is
required, both new and pre-existing installations are covered by
British/European standards BS EN12453:2017.
For all power-operated doors—domestic, commercial, and
industrial—force testing is a legal necessity. For accuracy of at least ±5%,
your force instrument needs to be calibrated at least once a year.
