Crimp Tools Calibration

Crimp Tool Calibration

Our accredited laboratory offers crimp tool calibration services, ensuring fast and efficient turnaround. We calibrate and verify all crimp tool makes and models, ensuring they operate in accordance with their original specifications and use the correct force to attach the crimp to the cable. We take pride in our quick turnaround and excellent service, aiming to return crimp tools to you as soon as possible to minimize manufacturing and production downtime.

We can pull test samples to destruction or pull and return for a set period of time up to 50,000 Newtons, and perform mechanical testing to various standards. General standards include BS EN60352-2: 2006, BS EN61238-1:2003, BS EN61238-1:2018, BS EN61238-1-3:2019 Part 7, UL486, ASTM B913, EN 5057/IEC 60760, ANSI/EIA 364-38B, and more.

Crimp tool calibration procedures include preparing samples of cable and appropriate crimps, testing the tool with a Go/No-Go gauge, and making three samples from the supplied tool, cable samples, and crimps. Tension is applied to the crimped joints, and the terminations must withstand this force for a specified period without degradation or creepage.

We can accommodate a wide range of crimp tools and cables with varying cross-sectional areas, including small AWG conductor sizes up to 2.5mm2 for open, pre-insulated crimp barrels and 1.5mm2 for closed crimp barrels, as well as large cables in excess of 95mm2. We offer calibration on various types of crimp tools, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and handheld.
